I flopped...

Mes amis

It’s Sunday evening here in London and as I write this newsletter, it’s off the back of losing a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition.

I’m very competitive, so losses hit hard.

On the walk back home, I had a lot of time to think about how I prepared, how I carried myself to the competition, how I fought and so on.

And, to be honest, it sucked.

How you do anything is how you do everything.

If everything else in my life follows the same flow as my performance and prep today, then this was the wake-up call I needed.

I have a lot of responsibilities. And the responsibilities will only build up as I age.

I want to provide for those I love and care about and if I’m not making the effort every day to care for the details, to shut up and do the boring jobs, to wear a brave face and make those sales calls then who will?

No one. No one is coming to save me.

I must move forward and become better.

The journey to greatness is never easy.

I want to win with my family and friends; I want them to win too and I want us all to celebrate our wins together.

And if we are to win together, then we must have a strategy for how we prepare.

We need discipline and commitment to the plan regardless of how mundane the activities are.

No matter how early we must wake in the morning, we must rise.

No matter how we feel about ourselves, we must stand tall, rest our shoulders back and keep our chins up.

No matter what the obstacle is in front of us, we must keep moving forward until we achieve what we set out to achieve

All living organisms move. We only stop when we’re dead. So let’s push on.

A bientot 👋🏿

PS: To be honest, this entire email was off-script, but I thought I’d share my loss. Next week, we’re back to our regular schedule. You’ll find a new layout for the newsletter and deep dive into persuasion.
